About Our Ward
Spitalfields & Banglatown is one of London's most historic and culturally rich communities. Our ward stretches from the vibrant Brick Lane and Banglatown area through to the historic Spitalfields Market and beyond.
Home to a diverse, multi-generational community, our ward has a proud history as a place where different cultures come together. From the Huguenot silk weavers of the 17th century to the thriving Bangladeshi community today, Spitalfields & Banglatown has always been a place of opportunity, resilience, and community spirit.
Today, our ward faces both opportunities and challenges. We're experiencing significant development and investment, but this must benefit existing residents, not displace them. We need to preserve our community character while ensuring everyone has access to quality housing, services, and opportunities.

Housing & Living Conditions
Improving housing quality, tackling disrepair, reducing overcrowding, and ensuring fair treatment from housing associations and the council.
